Nike is reviving its iconic Wu-Tang Clan Dunk sneakers after 25 years, returning to the 1999 collaboration that became one of its most celebrated releases. 

The new campaign, developed by Wieden+Kennedy, features New York Knicks players Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges in a playful skit, gathering around an ice-cream van serving the celebrated shoe. The Dunks, adorned in the original ‘Killa Beez’ color scheme, hold a special place in the legacy of both Nike and Wu-Tang. 

“These Dunks are important to me and the Wu-Tang legacy because of their cultural impact since their original release,” said RZA. “For many years, the sneaker world was reserved for athletes and some entertainers and Nike recognizing us in this way is a testament to hip-hop and our contribution to culture.”

Hip-hop, sneakers, bees, and basketball collide in Nike’s film to mark the re-release of its 1999 Wu-Tang Clan Dunk High model, which debuted on the latter’s SNKRS app in early November.

“The Hive,” sees the hip-hop group’s architect, RZA, play beekeeper on a New York City rooftop, while fellow Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon narrates why the insects (which share their colors both the band’s logo and the iconic sneaker) are important to the natural ecosystem.

RZA then flashes a look at the reimaged silhouette. New York Knicks starters Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Mikal Bridges also appear, watching the frontman through binoculars from afar.
